Digital Paintings
Since I've started making art digitally, I've been trying to find a way to connect it to my knowledge of painting. The most disorienting aspect of painting digitally has been picking and mixing colors. Mixing paint to achieve a harmonious color scheme is such a tactile and integral part of the painting process. I've been trying several Procreate brushes that simulate traditional materials hoping that I'd be able somehow put color mixing back into the process. Until recently, I haven't been able to make much progress towards that goal. I purchased a set of watercolor Procreate brushes from Bardot Brush and followed her tutorials for achieving the watercolor look. Because the layering of colors with these transparent brushes puts color mixing back into the painting process rather than a separate side option, the process has suddenly felt a little closer to my painting experience. I've been able to make several flower paitnings from my photos because I feel more present in the development of the image.
